In statements to Radio Cabo Verde, Daniel Tavares explained that, at the moment, the supply of essential products is still within normal levels, with no stock shortages being reported in commercial establishments so far. However, he warned that the situation could change rapidly if the frequency of maritime connections is not increased by the end of this week.

According to the merchant, Brava depends almost exclusively on maritime transport for the supply of food, beverages, hygiene products and other essential items, and at this time of year, demand increases significantly due to Christmas festivities and New Year's celebrations.

Daniel Tavares emphasized that local merchants have been making efforts to keep warehouses stocked, but stressed that without a minimum regularity in cargo ship voyages, these efforts may not be enough to meet the increased demand. "If the situation does not improve in the coming days, we could face serious supply difficulties during the holidays," he warned.

The owner of Poupança Mini Mercado also highlighted that a single trip by the ship “13 de Janeiro” to Brava Island could make a big difference. According to Tavares, if the island receives at least one trip from this ship, the supply of goods will improve considerably, allowing for restocking and ensuring greater peace of mind for both merchants and consumers.

The concern expressed by Daniel Tavares reflects a recurring problem experienced by the inhabitants of Brava, especially during festive periods or periods of higher consumption, when delays or irregularities in maritime transport have a direct impact on the economic and social life of the island.

With the approach of the Christmas and New Year holidays, merchants and consumers are now awaiting an effective response from the responsible authorities to ensure the regularity of maritime connections and avoid disruptions in the supply of goods to Brava Island.
