Ulisses Correia e Silva, who was speaking to Inforpress on the sidelines of today's visits to the town of Lomba Tantum, stressed that the work is progressing normally and everything points to the equipment being functional in February.

According to the head of government, Cabnave is the entity responsible for the entire operational component of the project, namely for importing the steel cables, which are specific for this type of project.

"The aim is to be able to offer the people of Lomba Tantum, especially the fishermen and fishmongers, an essential utility for their work, which is of great importance to the local economy," he stressed.

With regard to the photovoltaic plant project on the island of Brava, the Prime Minister highlighted the size of the investment, estimated at more than 450,000 escudos, covering solar parks, photovoltaic plants and batteries for energy storage.

According to Ulisses Correia e Silva, this investment will allow Brava to achieve a rate of electricity production through solar energy equal to or greater than 70 percent (%), far exceeding the national average forecast for 2026, which is practically double that target.

With a view to making Brava a sustainable island, the project is currently in the construction phase and, according to the construction company, could be up and running by the end of March.

"In operation means in full production," he clarified, adding that the impact will be very significant, both because of the high level of energy sustainability and because of the reduction in dependence on fossil fuels.

The Prime Minister concluded by saying that this project positions the island as a national benchmark in the field of climate action and energy transition, also contributing to greater stability and security in the supply of electricity, in conjunction with the investments made in the conventional power station.
