The psychologist responsible for the ICCA in Brava, Rosana Sousa, told Inforpress that parents, guardians, civil society and the educational community must remain vigilant in protecting children and adolescents.

According to the official, schools, kindergartens and other protection institutions play an important role in identifying and monitoring risk situations involving minors.

Rosana Sousa explained that the activity aimed to make young people aware of the consequences of early pregnancy, as well as informing them about victims' rights in cases of sexual violence.

"In many cases, the teenager ends up facing an early pregnancy as a result of these situations and therefore needs guidance, advice, protection and support, both from the community and from institutions", she said.

The psychologist also highlighted the participation of the students during the open conversation, advocating the strengthening of awareness-raising actions on the subject.

Relating to the sexual abuse of minors in Brava, Rosana Sousa said that ICCA has been working in conjunction with the Public Prosecutor's Office and other national entities to raise awareness among the population, through psychological support, guidance and support for families.

"Unfortunately there are still situations of this nature, but ICCA is always there to do its job," he added.

Student Sabrina Andrade, from the 10th grade, who said she had experienced an early pregnancy, considered the lecture important for alerting young people.

"Because of this I ended up leaving school and right now I was supposed to be at university. Today I have my son and my life has changed completely," she said.

The student called on her classmates to listen to the advice of their elders and to value the messages conveyed during the activity.
