Also known as one of the most important fishing areas on the island, Furna faces, according to residents, significant challenges related to employment and employability. During the consultation, several residents defended the urgent need to create economic alternatives that enhance the potential of the fishing sector.

Among the most prominent proposals is the installation of fish processing units in the town. Residents suggest investing in infrastructure for canning, brining, smoking and/or freezing, which would not only supply the domestic market, but also export to other islands and even the international market. In the community's view, this could generate direct and indirect jobs, boosting the local economy.

Another point strongly mentioned was the cleaning and requalification of the Furna seafront. Residents advocate urgent intervention to improve the state of the coastal area, including the cleaning of Praia de Bote and the construction of a suitable ramp for fishing boats, considered essential to facilitate fishermen's operations.

The demands also include the creation of a Fishermen's House, equipped with changing rooms and safe spaces to store work equipment. For seafarers, this infrastructure would represent an important gain in dignity, organization and working conditions.

The Bravanews initiative intends to continue in other parts of the island, collecting contributions from the population and giving communities a voice on their development priorities. The aim is to compile the main concerns and proposals to promote a more informed debate on the future of the island of Brava.
