BREAKING NEWS: Former mayor of Brava arrested by authorities (INFORPRESS)
The former mayor of Brava, Francisco Tavares, was arrested along with former secretary Andrezito Varela and contractor Ideal Louro, all of whom are in police custody in Nova Sintra. The authorities have yet to officially confirm the reasons for the arrests. The former council team was summoned to appear at the Brava District Court on February 27 to give evidence as part of an ongoing case.
Nova Sintra, Feb 26 - The former mayor of Brava, Francisco Tavares, has been arrested by police authorities and is in custody at the local police station. Also arrested were former secretary Andrezito Varela and contractor Ideal Louro.
According to information gathered by Inforpress, the three citizens remain in custody. So far, it has not been possible to officially confirm the reasons behind the arrests.
Inforpress tried to obtain further clarification from the relevant authorities, but received no response.
In the meantime, the Public Prosecutor's Office has notified the former council team to appear at the Brava District Court on February 27, in order to make a statement and answer questions related to a case that is proceeding legally.
The investigations continue under the responsibility of the competent judicial authorities.
