Casimiro de Pina announces candidacy for the Presidency of the Republic in the 2026 elections
Political commentator and university professor Casimiro de Pina will officially launch his candidacy for the Presidency of the Republic in the 2026 elections at a public event scheduled for this Friday, 09, in Praia.
According to the press release sent to Inforpress, the event will include a brief musical moment, with the aim of brightening up the event with the "magic" of Cape Verdean culture.
Casimiro de Pina was born in March 1974 in the municipality of Mosteiros, on the island of Fogo.

During his career, he has published several books, articles in specialized magazines and newspapers.
The candidate has already worked in the Secretariat of State for Decentralization, holding senior positions and providing legal advice on the preparation of various pieces of legislation. He also has experience in the National Assembly, enhancing his political and academic profile.
The candidate was elected president in the last elections.
In the last presidential elections in 2021, Casimiro de Pina won 3,254 votes, corresponding to 1.8% of the total of 86,991 voters, in a universe of 387,406 registered voters.
