MP Samuel Varela welcomes the start of work on the Fajã D'Água-Palhal road
Nova Sintra City, August 11, 2025 (Bravanews) - The Movement for Democracy (MpD) MP for the Brava constituency, Samuel Varela, expressed his "enormous satisfaction" at the start of construction work on the alternative road between Fajã D'Água and Palhal. In recent statements, the MP welcomed the completion of the project, calling it "extremely important" for the development of the island.

For Varela, the new road is not just a road access route, but represents a significant step for the future of Brava. According to him, the work will "close the ring road" on the island, improving connectivity and safety for residents and visitors.
The MP also highlighted the potential for enhancing the coastal and bathing areas with the arrival of the new road. "This project will bring the possibility and potential for new urban settlements to emerge, allowing the tourist town of Fajã D'Água to be extended," he said. This vision points to a future where the road can boost tourism and the local economy, creating new business and development opportunities.
Samuel Varela took the opportunity to highlight what he considers to be a "clear demonstration of the commitment" of the government led by Ulisses Correia e Silva to the island and its inhabitants. The works, which meet a long-standing demand from the population, are seen as proof of the government's continued investment in the progress of Brava.
For Varela, the Fajã D'Água-Palhal road is eagerly awaited by the local population, who see the new road as a solution to accessibility problems and a catalyst for the region's economic and social growth. The project, now in the construction phase, promises to transform the dynamics of that coastal area, paving the way for a new cycle of development on the island.
