Fire: Croatian tourist undergoes surgery after fall in Salinas resort

A Croatian tourist underwent surgery on Thursday afternoon, 12, after suffering a fall in the seaside resort of Salinas, located more than 20 kilometers north of the city of São Filipe.

In the incident, two other tourists, also of Croatian nationality, suffered minor injuries and after being treated in the emergency department of the São Francisco de Assis Regional Hospital, they were released.

According to the clinical director of the São Francisco de Assis Regional Hospital, Dionísio Semedo, two of the patients had only minor abrasions and were treated and discharged shortly afterwards.

The third tourist suffered more serious injuries and was taken to the operating room, where she underwent abdominal surgery.

The tourists were visiting the seaside resort of Salinas accompanied by a tour guide when the incident occurred and were promptly rescued by fishermen who use the nearby fish landing port.

The victim with the most serious injuries was transported in the National Police vehicle, while the other two were taken to hospital in the Municipal Fire Brigade ambulance.

The exact circumstances of the fall were not detailed as it was not possible to contact the tour guide who was accompanying them on the visit.
