The announcement of yet another gold medal was made by the head of the Chã winery/cooperative, Rossando Monteiro, who added that this year the winery was competing in the prestigious World Extreme Wines competition only with the 2024 vintage red wine.

The World Extreme Wines competition is organized by the Center for Research, Studies, Salvage, Coordination and Valorization of Mountain Viticulture.

The World Extreme Wine Competition is organized by the Centre for Research, Studies, Safeguarding, Coordination and Enhancement of Mountain Viticulture (CERVIM) and is the only oenological competition in the world dedicated to wines from heroic viticulture that is organized annually.

This is the second time in a row and the third time that the Chã winery's wine has been awarded a gold medal. The "Chã Branco" wine from the 2021 harvest was awarded a gold medal in the international wine competition dedicated to "heroic" wines, which was also held in Italy.

Last year, at the 32nd edition, the winery was awarded three gold medals for the wines "Chã Branco" vintage 2023, "Chã Tinto" vintage 2022 and "Chã Passito" vintage 2023, and since 2021 the winery has won five gold medals and ranks among the best wines from heroic viticulture in the world.

Rossando Monteiro said that as well as taking part in the XXXIIIrd World Extreme Wine Competition, the winery also took part in the Brussels (Belgium) World Sweet and Fortified Wine Competition with the Passito wine, which came within 86 points of winning a medal.

In addition to the wines from the Chã winery/cooperative, a few years ago the wines from the Maria Chaves winery, namely Santa Luzia (white) and Pico do Fogo (reserve) were awarded gold medals.
