Central Falls, USA - FirstWorks Summer Beats closes its 2025 edition with a special show dedicated to the music and cultural heritage of Cape Verde. On Saturday, August 9, from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Jenks Park will host a concert that will bring together renowned Cape Verdean singer Elida Almeida and multifaceted local artist Chachi Carvalho.
Chachi Carvalho, first to take the stage (3:00-4:00 p.m.), is a Cape Verdean-American artist born and raised in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, with a career that includes music, poetry, teaching and community activism.
At 4:30 p.m., it will be Elida Almeida's turn to enchant the audience with her warm and engaging voice, which has garnered more than 2.7 million views on YouTube since her debut in 2014. The artist brings to the world the traditional rhythms of Cape Verde - such as batuque, funaná, coladera and tabanka - mixed with Latin influences, reinforcing her African identity and celebrating the cultural roots of her homeland.
The event will also feature tables from community groups, including the Cape Verdean Museum, Progresso Latino's youth program, Cabo Verdeans United, led by Arlindo "Katchupinha" Alves, and New Urban Arts, who will present cultural initiatives, youth entrepreneurship projects and solidarity campaigns for underprivileged communities in Cape Verde.
