Cape Verde Government Facilitates Access to Housing for Young People from 2026
From 2026 onwards, the Cape Verdean government will implement measures to facilitate young people's access to housing, with up to 50% interest subsidies and state guarantees for housing loans.
The government of Cape Verde has announced a new measure that promises to transform access to housing for young people in the country. From 2026, young university students and families starting out in life will have easier access to credit for home ownership, through incentives included in the State Budget.
According to the official press release, the initiative includes an interest rate subsidy of up to 50%, as well as the granting of state guarantees for bank contributions, thus removing obstacles that have historically hindered access to housing for Cape Verdean youth.
"The aim is to promote housing inclusion and dignity, ensuring that more young people have the opportunity to build a stable and independent life," the government stressed.
The measure is part of a series of structural reforms aimed at the country's social and economic development, reinforcing the state's commitment to young people and the right to decent housing.
