MpD criticizes the 2025 report and points to the absence of major projects.
The leader of the Movement for Democracy (MpD) parliamentary group, in the opposition, stated today that the 2025 report presented by the municipality fell "far short of expectations," emphasizing that no major projects were identified in the municipality.
João José Delgado made these remarks to journalists after the conclusion of the first ordinary session of this year, which included the presentation and review of the City Council's activity report for 2025.
As he pointed out, the session proceeded normally with regard to the issues discussed.
The leader considered that, despite it being the first year of his term, the local authority has a considerable increase in funding, which would allow for more interventions in the municipality.
"Therefore, we believe they could do even more," he stated, adding that, in his view, the current city council team's performance in 2025 is negative.
In turn, the president of the Brava Municipal Council, Amândio Brito, presented a different assessment, considering the balance of the first year of his term to be positive.
According to the mayor, this was the current team's first experience as local politicians, marked by several challenges throughout the year.
"It was our first experience as local authorities and a new year for us, in which we faced many challenges," he said.
Amândio Brito also highlighted that, when analyzing the period between December 2024 and December 2025, it is possible to see that the municipality registered progress and created important foundations for the development of future achievements.
According to the mayor, there has been progress in different areas, namely infrastructure, education and training, sports, sanitation, culture, municipal organization, implementation of the Job, Career and Remuneration Plan (PCCR) and regularization of precarious employment contracts.
The mayor concluded by assuring that the municipal team is working to accelerate actions in 2026, aiming for a more developed municipality with better living conditions for its residents.
