From author Colin Miranda, Love in Black and White takes Brava back to 1910

Set in the Brava of 1910, the book transports readers to a time when society was deeply marked by divisions and prejudices. It is in this setting that the story of Raimundo and Leonela is born, an unlikely love that dares to challenge the norms and barriers imposed by the time. The narrative promises not only to engage the audience with its romantic dimension, but also to provoke reflection on the social dynamics that shaped generations.

More than just a work of fiction, "Amor a Preto e Branco"is a true tribute to Cape Verde's cultural roots, evoking the essence of the island of Brava and the resilient strength of its people. The inspiration in the mornas of Eugénio Tavares, one of the archipelago's greatest cultural references, reinforces the nostalgic and deeply identitarian tone of the work, linking literature and music in a celebration of the Cape Verdean soul.

The launch event is scheduled for this Friday, March 20, starting at 5pm, in the Salão Nobre of the Brava Town Hall. The initiative invites the public to take part in an afternoon that promises to be rich in culture, history and emotion, bringing together lovers of literature, local history and oral tradition.

The organization stresses that this moment will be more than a book presentation: it will be an encounter with the past, an opportunity to relive stories that echo to this day and to value the island's intangible heritage.

With this open invitation to the community, it is hoped that there will be a strong turnout, in an atmosphere of sharing and celebration of Bravense's identity. The presence of each participant will be, according to the promoters, "the greatest privilege", in an event that aims to be marked on the island's cultural agenda.
