The landslide, which completely blocked the road, occurred during the early hours of the morning and, according to information gathered by Inforpress from a resident, prevented children from going to school this morning.
The incident also affected some tourists who were in Fajã d'Água and were unable to leave the community.
Faced with the blockage, residents have begun efforts to improvise an alternative route that will at least allow people to get up to a point where transportation can be accessed.
The access road to Fajã d'Água has been the scene of successive landslides in recent years, especially during the rainy season, repeatedly aggravating the mobility difficulties of its residents.
In the meantime, work on a new road infrastructure, the Esparadinha/Palhal road, has been underway since August, with the aim of closing the Brava island ring road.
The completion of this new road, scheduled for the next 15 months, promises to offer better access conditions and greater safety for the community in the future.
