Orlando Balla breaks silence and comes out in defense of Francisco Tavares and Andrezito Miranda
Nova Sintra City, March 1, 2026 (Bravanews) - The former mayor of Brava, Orlando Balla, has decided to break his silence and come out publicly in defense of Francisco Tavares, Andrezito Miranda and the contractor Ideal Louro, who are currently involved in a lawsuit that has marked the political debate on the island.
In a statement posted on his social pages, Balla said that he could no longer remain silent in the face of what he considers to be a situation of "humiliation and anguish" experienced by innocent people, allegedly victims of false accusations motivated by political rivalries.
"It has become clear that my silence is no longer an option I wish to exercise," wrote the former mayor.
In the document, Orlando Balla maintains that the accusations against those targeted were "fabricated by political enemies" with the aim of revenge and stopping political competition. The ex-edil expresses absolute confidence in the innocence of those involved.
"I want the world to know that I believe in the innocence of Francisco and Andrezito," he said.
Balla describes them both as "honest gentlemen", with firm convictions and committed to acting within moral and legal parameters for the benefit of the population.
With regard to the contractor Ideal Louro, the former mayor of Brava believes that he is just being caught in the middle of the controversy.
"As for Ideal, in my opinion, he's just a victim of circumstances," he said.
One of the most striking passages in the statement is Orlando Balla's direct appeal to the supporters and friends of Francisco Tavares and Andrezito Miranda. The former mayor questions the silence of those who believe in the innocence of the defendants and challenges them to take a public stand. "Where are the friends of Francisco and Andrezito? What are they afraid of?" - he asks.
According to Balla, this is the time for those who believe in the innocence of the defendants to come out in the open, arguing that once the investigations are concluded it may already be too late to break the silence.
Despite his critical tone towards the accusations, Orlando Balla says he trusts that the process will eventually exonerate the defendants. "Once the investigation is concluded, they will be cleared. The truth will always prevail," he concluded.
The former president's statements come at a time of strong political and judicial tension involving former Brava City Council officials. The case is still under investigation by the Public Prosecutor's Office, and the judicial authorities have yet to rule on the merits of the accusations.
