PAICV-Brava presents candidacy for 2026 legislative elections with focus on the island's problems
The PAICV-Brava officially presented its candidacy for the 2026 legislative elections, highlighting its commitment to the island of Brava and the development of Cape Verde, at a political moment considered important for the island's future.
According to the statement, the party says that the candidacy was presented with a "deep sense of responsibility and commitment to the island of Brava and to Cape Verde", assuming as a priority the defense of the interests of the Brava population and the search for solutions to the main problems affecting the island.
The PAICV's list of candidates for the Brava constituency is made up of Clóvis Isildo Silva, Maria Antónia Alves, Carlos António Martins, Arminda Monteiro Moreira and Lourenço Monteiro Pereira. The party stresses that this is a balanced list, representing different parishes and localities on the island, with candidates considered prepared to represent Brava in parliament.
The statement also comes at a time of mourning for the island, with the party paying tribute to the memory of "Nho Dilapa", a well-known and respected figure on Brava, who recently passed away and whose death was felt by the entire community.
On a political and social level, the PAICV-Brava recognizes that the island faces several challenges, namely in transport, health, access to water and in key sectors of the local economy such as agriculture, fishing and livestock. Even so, the party says it believes it is possible to do things differently and come up with new solutions for the island's development.
The candidacy aims to restore hope to the Bravense population, betting on work, political commitment and a new vision for the island, defending what the party describes as the construction of concrete solutions to improve people's lives, under the slogan of a "Cape Verde for All".
