Tribute to the Gomes Family – A Legacy of Faith and Dedication
Today, with grateful and deeply touched hearts, the Church of Nova Sintra pays a simple but significant tribute to the Gomes family – especially to the exemplary couple Daniel Burgo Gomes and Dona Rita Fontes Gomes. This tribute is more than words: it is a recognition of everything that this family has represented over the years in the growth and steadfastness of God's work in our community.
Daniel Burgo Gomes, Coming from a Christian family, he was taught the way of the Lord from an early age. With humility, dedication and love for the cause of Christ, he has served faithfully in the Church of Nova Sintra, holding various positions over time and currently acting with zeal and responsibility as the church secretary. His silent testimony, his firmness of character and his life of service are an inspiration to us all.
But we cannot talk about the Gomes family without highlighting the strong, serene and determined figure of Dona Rita Fontes Gomes. In the 1980s, she learned about the gospel through the young Nazarenes and, since then, she has given her life to Christ with unwavering faith. Dona Rita is much more than an active member — she is a true pillar of this church. Alongside her husband, she has been a pillar, a reference in love for others, commitment to the Kingdom and perseverance in adversity.
Rita is synonymous with faith, courage and determination. It was through her tireless mission of evangelizing that an entire family was reached by the grace of God. Today, the Fontes Gomes family is a living reflection of the faith of this woman who, even in the face of challenges, never gave up proclaiming the Word of the Lord.
Her example inspires generations. Dona Rita is a woman who inspires respect and trust, who teaches with wisdom and listens with her heart. Always ready to lend a hand, to welcome, to advise — she is a true gift from God to our church.
Therefore, the Church of Nova Sintra pays tribute to the Gomes family today, with gratitude and deep appreciation. May God continue to richly bless this family, strengthening them more and more so that they may continue to be light, salt and blessing wherever they may be.
