In statements to Inforpress, the tour operator pointed out that the transportation problem has always existed on the Brava, but with the breakdown of the Liberdadi ship, the situation has become even more complicated and people who work in tourism are getting hurt.
According to Marco Giandinoto, local authorities or those in power should work to create ways for tourists to feel attracted to visit the municipality.
"Most of the time, tourists who arrive on Brava don't have any information about the island and I'm the one who does the job of tour guide so that they can make their visits successfully," he said.
Marco Giandinoto criticized the island's "lack of effective promotional work" to properly inform tourists, despite the fact that, according to him, there is a portal, Visit Brava, in charge of providing visitors with pertinent information about the island.
Many times, he said, tourists travel to the neighboring island of Fogo, but don't make it to Brava, for various reasons, including lack of information, so he called on the authorities to provide a more efficient means of transportation that guarantees the "right access and exit" from the island.
"Often caravans arrive knowing absolutely nothing about the Brava, or perhaps they've looked up some information on the platform that isn't even up to date and also the travel agencies provide clarifications that aren't always correct and this causes various constraints," he stressed.
However, Marco Giandinoto acknowledged that the Brava City Council has been working to get the trails signposted and most of the time has also been clearing the side paths.
The tour operator concluded by appealing for common sense and the collaboration of all the competent authorities, as well as colleagues who work in tourism, so that the island can have quality tourism.
