Brava: Associação Mais Lusofonia de Castelo Branco distributed several donations in Brava
The Associação Mais Lusofonia de Castelo Branco (AMLCB), from Portugal, today distributed several donations, namely clothing and footwear in different locations in Brava.
In an interview with the media, the president of AMLCB, Sofia Lourenço, explained that the idea of exchange between the association and Brava City Council arose when she met the president while in captivity in Portugal.
“Brava Island participated in a Creative Cities of Embroidery competition for the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and from there it generated several ideas, between Francisco Tavares and me”, he highlighted.
Hence, according to her, the association gathered twenty-one volunteers for a “mission in Cape Verde”, where they have already passed through the city of Praia, helping Aldeia SOS and now it was the turn of the municipality of Brava.
“Aldeia SOS already has several godparents from Castelo Branco who came through the association and this year we brought more godparents for the children from the villages”, he highlighted.
The person in charge also added that this time she also brought her dance group called Companhia de Dança Sofia Lourenço, which performed last Saturday, October 7th, at Praça Eugénio Tavares, in Nova Sintra.
In this sense, Lourenço considered the reception of the people of Brava to the Company's activities as “fantastic” and thanked the population for welcoming the group.
In turn, the president of Brava City Council, Francisco Tavares, made a positive assessment of this exchange and also highlighted that it is a strengthening of relations between Portugal and Cape Verde.
“They brought several items that they donated to children, young people and the elderly and also put on a cultural show that was wonderful”, he praised.
The mayor considered that Sofia is a great activist and that this partnership is of great value to the municipality.
