INE's annual report, based on a broad statistical analysis, revealed that the socioeconomic development of Ilha Brava remained stable compared to other Cape Verdean municipalities. This indicates that the island has been able to maintain its pace of progress in several areas, such as infrastructure, education, health and economy.

According to the data collected, quality of life indicators, such as access to basic services and education and health indices, remained at levels similar to those of other islands and municipalities in Cape Verde. This demonstrates the continuous efforts of the authorities and the local population to ensure the well-being of the Brave community.

Brava Island, known for its natural beauty and stunning landscapes, has a population of approximately five thousand inhabitants]. Despite being the smallest inhabited island in the archipelago, it plays a significant role in the national context.

Francisco Tavares, Mayor of Brava, exclusively for Bravanews, highlighted the importance of this data for the country's strategic planning: "The maintenance of the level of Brava Island compared to other municipalities in Cape Verde is positive news. This is positive news. shows that we are making progress and that investments are being distributed equitably across different locations".

Still, the mayor advances that “it stands out that after all, Brava is unfairly perceived, as the island ends up positioning itself above the national average and is the only “small” municipality to achieve this fact”. To conclude that “we have improved in terms of points from last year to this year and now we are above the national average and in the first third of the table”, he said.

For Francisco Tavares, President of the city council, this result is the result of hard work in the social areas and infrastructure of the island, despite the constraints linked to the chronic isolation of Ilha Brava, emphasizing that the contribution of emigrants in supporting family members, also weighed in on the result now achieved.

The mayor showed his satisfaction with the results and emphasizes his commitment to continue working to further improve the quality of life of its inhabitants. Through sustainable development projects and investments in key sectors, Brava Island aims to strengthen its role as an attractive tourist destination and thriving community. “The results are satisfactory and challenge us to do more and better in order to aim to improve every year”, he concludes.

As Brava Island continues to stand as an example of progress and stability, residents and visitors alike look forward to it continuing its successful trajectory, promoting the well-being of its people and contributing to Cape Verde's continued development as a all.
