The Brava Health Department today organized a meeting with local partners to discuss and draw up new guidelines for opening inter-island connections and preventing the entry of covid-19 on the island.

Speaking to Inforpress, Brava's Health delegate, Júlio Barros, explained that the meeting aimed to create work teams to pass on information, awareness and prevention of covid-19, taking into account the opening of international travel. Islands.

In addition, Júlio Barros advanced, the norms and working conditions to be carried out by the teams from the Health Department and other entities were discussed as soon as the passengers arrived, on the pier, and the other procedures that must be taken into account in the follow-up, among other aspects.

In terms of guidelines, he informed that they will define a plan of activities next Thursday, which includes work from the port, bars, restaurants, minimarkets, drivers and other entities and will follow to prevent and achieve the objectives set.

In order to achieve these goals, it is also necessary to prepare, taking into account that the island has a large number of elderly people, diabetics, among other people from risk groups, with whom an in-depth awareness work must be carried out.

In turn, the mayor of Brava, Francisco Tavares underlined that the meeting was held to raise awareness and knowledge of all actors in relation to the latest approved resolutions.

Of these resolutions, he highlighted the one concerning the directive for the monitoring and inspection of the process of implementation of the general health conditions applicable by institutions, services and entities, companies, general commerce and the population, mainly, from this Wednesday when there will be greater ease and facilitating inter-island movement of people.

Hence the need for all entities on the island to be in tune to provide the general public, in accordance with their specificities, with all the information on how things will work and the redoubled attention they should have in relation to the capacity of the public spaces, opening hours, public passenger transport, observance of the widespread use of masks and the agglomeration of people.

"The island and the country cannot remain closed, but with the opening, we must all comply as much as possible with the guidelines to contribute, as much as possible, to preventing the spread of the virus if it reaches the island", concluded the mayor.
