This funding is the result of the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Institute for Employment and Vocational Training (IEFP) and the Fund for the Promotion of Employment and Training (FPEF), which provides for the creation of two workshops in the areas of electricity and plumbing.

The funding, resulting from the 06/2024 call for proposals launched by the FPEF, aims to support projects to innovate and modernize the Public Vocational Training Centres in Cape Verde.

The aim is to provide these institutions with properly equipped workshops, laboratories and training rooms, raising the technical and pedagogical quality of the training and therefore increasing the employability of the young trainees.

According to the director of CEFP Fogo/Brava, Carlos Lopes, the center located in São Filipe has a large physical structure, but lacks workshops, laboratories and essential equipment.

Due to this limitation, the center's management submitted its application for funding in January last year, which was eventually approved after some adaptations to the initial project.

With a maximum deadline of nine months for implementation, the CEFP has already begun the necessary preparations and is liaising with the Training Department, the board of directors and other partners to ensure the project's success.

The expectation is that the new workshops will represent a significant leap forward in the quality of technical training offered on the islands of Fogo and Brava.
