Tribute by the Church of the Nazarene of Nova Sintra to Augusto de Pina and João Lopes.
The Church of the Nazarene of Nova Sintra has the honor and privilege of paying a simple but deeply felt tribute to two of its most devoted brothers: Augusto de Pina, affectionately known as Guta, and João Lopes, affectionately called Gato.
Augusto de Pina (Guta) gave his life to Christ at a young age, and since then he has walked faithfully, being a living example of commitment to God. A carpenter by trade, he has used his hands not only to shape wood, but also to build the house of the Lord, always available to help, collaborate and give his best. His testimony of life, his welcoming spirit and his wise advice have made him a reference point for the young people of the church. Guta is a true servant, helpful, dedicated, and for this the Church recognizes him with deep gratitude, extolling his faith, perseverance and love for the divine work.
João Lopes (Gato), on the other hand, is known for his unwavering faith and his generous heart. He's a friend to everyone, especially children, who adore him and find in him affection and protection. His serene, observant and always attentive manner conveys peace and security. With more than 30 years of faithful service at the Church of the Nazarene in Nova Sintra, Gato continues to serve with the same energy and joy as always - as if no time had passed him by. His infectious enthusiasm and spiritual steadfastness are hallmarks of a man who loves God and loves people.
These two brothers are also an inseparable duo. Long-time companions in the carpentry trade and also tireless soldiers in the Lord's harvest, Augusto and João have been walking together for more than three decades, building, helping and inspiring.
The truth is that this tribute is small in the face of the great contribution that these two men have made to the church. They are living symbols of faith, friendship and love - a love that unites them to Christ and to each other.
The Church of the Nazarene of Nova Sintra gives its heartfelt thanks to Augusto de Pina and João Lopes. May they continue to be faithful men, examples for generations to come, and may God continue to strengthen them and use them powerfully. Thank you very much for everything!
