Speaking to the press on the sidelines of a meeting with the Santa Cruz community, as part of his visit to the "rabidantes" and traders at the Santa Cruz Municipal Market, Francisco Carvalho stressed that one of the main objectives of his presence in the region is to "create awareness" among the population about the current situation in the municipality and the northern region of the island of Santiago.

According to the leader of the African Independence Party of Cape Verde (PAICV), Santa Cruz once had "extraordinary and profound projects" which were eventually discontinued.

According to the leader of the African Party for the Independence of Cape Verde (PAICV), Santa Cruz once had "extraordinary and fundamental projects" that were eventually discontinued, which, in his opinion, contributed to the current scenario of stagnation.

To reverse this reality, he assured that he has concrete projects not only for Santa Cruz and Santiago Norte, but for the whole country.

Among the priorities he pointed out, Francisco Carvalho highlighted the issue of water, considering it fundamental for agricultural development.

He called for the realization of a new water supply system in Santa Cruz and Santiago Norte.

He advocated drilling boreholes, making existing dams more profitable and building family cisterns, in order to guarantee water for production and for people's consumption.

Another central theme of the campaign was water.

Another central plank of his proposals is the development of the agri-food industry, with a focus on strengthening the primary sector, namely agriculture, fishing and animal husbandry, as a way of generating employment, income and fighting poverty in a sustainable way.

The president of the PAIC is committed to the development of the agri-food industry.

The president of the PAICV also referred to the creation of a bank at the service of farmers and the agri-food industry, with the aim of facilitating access to financing on subsidized terms, allowing the transformation of family farming into a more productive and market-oriented agriculture.

Finally, Francisco Carvalho advocated improving the road links between the municipalities of Santiago Norte, stressing the importance of roads for transporting agricultural production and guaranteeing producers access to markets.

The PAICV leader left a message of mobilization to the population, appealed for a conscious vote and criticized the ten years of governance of the Movement for Democracy (MpD), which he classified as a period of "total failure" and abandonment of the northern region.

He therefore reiterated his party's commitment to being close to the people and working for a more developed Cape Verde with income for all families, in order to create a "Cape Verde for all".
