MpD MP João Paulo Gomes Rocha da Silva justifies his vote in favor of Brava's Budget and Activity Plan, "Brava Primeiro, MpD Sempre!"

The vote, which broke the historic line of systematic opposition on the island and ensured the approval of the management instruments, was justified by a clear sense of responsibility towards the residents and local development.

In his statement, João Paulo Gomes Rocha da Silva reaffirms his unwavering loyalty to the Movement for Democracy (MpD), the party he was elected for. However, he stresses that his actions have been guided by the responsibility to honor the trust of the people of Brava and to protect the interests of the municipality, a duty that, according to him, takes precedence over the desire to harm the population.

"I have never had, nor will I have, the intention of harming the people of Brava. On the contrary, my responsibility is to protect the interests of the municipality and its citizens, and that includes agreeing to the management instruments proposed by the municipality when they prove crucial to local development," said the MP.

Member Gomes Rocha da Silva said that his vote in favor was based on the conviction that the Plan and Budget for 2026 are "fundamental and essential instruments" for achieving the common goal of "providing the municipality of Brava with better living conditions and sustainability for all."

While acknowledging the plan's potential to boost vital projects, the MP made a point of clarifying that his vote is not a political surrender, but a "responsible vote of confidence".

In practice, this position gives him an "added duty to be an attentive and vigilant collector of non-compliance on the part of the municipality," ensuring that the objectives and targets set are fully met by the PAICV's municipal leadership.

Reinforcing his integrity and political convictions, the municipal deputy assured militants and colleagues that his stance is not an act of betrayal, but rather a manifestation of a clear political principle.

Reaffirming that he is and will continue to be a "strong, convinced and aware MPdista", João Paulo Gomes Rocha da Silva concluded his justification with the motto that guided his decision:

"My motto is clear: Brava first, MpD always!"

To the citizens, the MP reiterated his promise to be at their disposal "across the board, regardless of their party color," honoring the mandate given with dedication and doing justice to the trust placed in him.
