MpD formalizes candidacy in Brava with "young list" headed by a woman
This afternoon, the MpD delivered its list of candidates for the legislative elections on May 17 to the Brava District Court, presenting a team that it classifies as young and familiar with the local reality.
In statements to Inforpress, the party's list leader on the island, Ivone Cardoso, stressed that the event represents a "big step" in making the candidacy official, stressing that the moment goes beyond a simple formal procedure.
According to the same source, the Movement for Democracy is committed to working more closely with the communities, recognizing that there is still "a lot of work ahead" for the development of the "island of flowers".
"We are ready and willing to face future challenges. It's a path we're building in politics and we want it to contribute to the development of the island of Brava," said Ivone Cardoso.
The leader also emphasized that the list, in addition to being mostly young, is headed by a woman and composed of a team that she considers "competent and responsible", prepared to respond to the specific challenges of the municipality.
72 seats will be up for grabs in the legislative elections on May 17, representing 13 constituencies, ten of which are in Portugal and three abroad.
In the constituencies in the national territory, 66 deputies will be in the running, distributed among Santo Antão (6), São Vicente (10), São Nicolau (2), Sal (4), Boa Vista (2), Maio (2), Santiago Sul (19), Santiago Norte (14), Fogo (5) and Brava (2).
Relatively abroad, each of the three constituencies will elect two MPs, representing Africa (2), America (2) and Europe and the Rest of the World (2).
According to the National Electoral Commission (CNE), the number of seats per constituency to be elected has not changed in relation to the 2021 legislative elections.
The electoral calendar foresees that the registration of political parties with the Constitutional Court takes place from March 28 to April 7, that is, between the 50th and 40th days before the date of the elections.
