São Nicolau: MpD Political Committee accuses company BestFly of “neglect and disrespect” towards the island
The MpD Political Committee in Ribeira Brava, São Nicolau, considered today that the island has been the victim of “sloppiness and disrespect” by the airline BestFly in scheduling flights.
The president of the MpD Political Commission in Ribeira Brava, Alírio Cabral Gomes, told Inforpress that “it is not acceptable” for a plane to take off from one island towards another without disembarking the passengers it was carrying, nor taking those waiting to do so. your trip.
He said that in recent weeks “they have not been lucky” for those who want to arrive or leave São Nicolau, because “there is a fault on the part of the company” that operates domestic flights.
“We haven't been able to hear the company's justification yet, but it is often said that it was due to the sunset. If true, this demonstrates a serious programming failure by the company itself”, highlighted the politician.
According to him, the local Political Committee of the MpD has already had the opportunity to convey its concern about the situation of flights to/from São Nicolau to the Government, “insisting on the need for a better solution in the matter”.
Alírio Cabral Gomes stated that the company must be “called to reason”, and, if necessary, “be held responsible for the constraints” it causes to the island and passengers
“We know the Government's commitment to finding a solution that gives us comfort, but we cannot silence our voice, publicly, in light of what happened on Thursday, the 28th”, he highlighted.
Finally, he expressed his solidarity with each of the passengers prevented from disembarking/boarding the aforementioned flight, hoping that identical situations “will not be repeated, neither in São Nicolau nor on any other island”.
