Brava: CV Interilhas says freight transport increased between January and October
In a statement, CV Interilhas assured that it has continuously maintained the public maritime transport service to the island of Brava, fully complying with the operational model defined for the Sotavento Line, which is the three contracted weekly trips. The company exemplified that in the period from January to October 2025, the goods transported to the island increased from 351 to 587 tons, it carried out 26 medical evacuations, as well as 12 extra trips of "the company's own initiative".
At a time when there are supply problems on the Sotavento islands, with a special focus on Brava Island, CV Interilhas reacted in a statement by assuring that the company has given due attention to the island, fully complying with the operational model defined for the Sotavento Line and reinforcing it with extra trips "whenever demand and local needs so require".
The company also presented the figures for the period from January to October 2025.
Extra trips are "the company's own initiative"
According to the published figures, there was a 160% increase in the tonnage of cargo transported and a 67% increase in the number of units loaded. Goods rose from 351 to 587 tons, including food, fresh and frozen goods, construction materials and break bulk cargo, "essential for supplying the island".
The extra journeys, which have been made since July and total 12 extra journeys to Brava (in addition to the three contracted weekly journeys), were, as CV Interilhas stresses, the company's own initiative, in order to guarantee mobility, supply and continuity of the Inter-island connections.
In terms of passengers transported, CV Interilhas says that the figures total 10,646 passengers and 26 medical evacuations.
Data proves reinforcement of the operation
According to the shipping company, the data presented here "proves that CV Interilhas' operation to Brava has been strengthened", reflecting the company's "ongoing commitment to inter-island mobility and Cape Verde's territorial cohesion".
Public service tariffs are set by the state
With regard to the question about the Interilhas tariff, CV Interilhas clarified that the tariffs applied to the public service are defined by the State and comply with national regulations.
"The last update for cargo transportation took place in February 2024 and was applied uniformly to all inter-island connections, and the tariff update due in January 2025 is expected to be published," he added.
