The initiative was highlighted by the municipality as a symbolic moment of recognition of the importance of Cape Verde's history and culture, as well as an opportunity to strengthen ties with the vast immigrant community living in the United States, in particular the Bravenses who maintain a strong connection to their homeland.

According to the council's note, the Cape Verde Museum "plays an essential role in valuing our roots, uniting the diaspora and passing on our cultural heritage to new generations". Amândio Brito's visit is therefore seen as a gesture of proximity and encouragement to preserve Cape Verde's identity heritage, which transcends borders and keeps the common identity alive.

The municipality also stresses that the history that unites Cape Verdeans, both inside and outside the archipelago, is a central element in strengthening cohesion and national identity, values that cultural institutions like the Cape Verde Museum help to perpetuate.
