In a tour of the island's main stores, Inforpress found that the empty shelves have given way to reinforced warehouses, a situation that has generated satisfaction among local consumers.
The operators guarantee that, at the moment, stock levels are satisfactory, allowing for a stability that hasn't been felt on the island for some time.
In statements to Inforpress, the manager of Loja Poupança, Daniel Tavares, confirmed that the store is "well stocked", with all products available, with the exception of some items that are still missing from suppliers.
According to the official, with the entry into service of the Polar company's ship, the shortage of basic necessities has become "a thing of the past".
"Thank God things are going well, although there are still some limitations on shipments, the change is clearly positive. Now it's a question of managing what we have in stock better," said the manager, noting, however, that some occasional disruptions are due to problems with suppliers or constraints on the international market, rather than a lack of transportation.
"On a weekly basis we have received loads that have met the required quantity and the appeal is for this system to continue, as it has helped the island a lot," he added.
In the same vein, José Baptista, owner of the Nova Sintra mini-market, praised the ship's crucial role for the local economy.
The trader pointed out that the island has been receiving cargo once or twice a week, which has been enough to satisfy demand.
"Today we have no shortage of any product, unless there are none on the market in Praia. We have nothing to complain about at the moment," said the businessman.
The trader took the opportunity to appeal for the continuity and regularity of this cabotage service, which he considers "fundamental" for the commercial survival of Brava.
The ship Praia d'Aguada, after a period of maintenance, resumed inter-island connections on December 29, 2025, after obtaining the necessary certifications, bringing a new breath to the logistics corridor between Praia, Fogo and Brava.
