During his speech, the Prime Minister highlighted Atlantic Shipping's role in moving goods and sending remittances to Cape Verdean emigrants.
"Without Atlantic Shipping, we would have serious difficulties in guaranteeing this vital flow. It is a partner that serves our community with dedication and vision," he said.
The new warehouse will strengthen the company's logistics capacity and is part of a wider expansion plan, which also includes investments on the islands of São Vicente and Fogo.
According to the Prime Minister, the infrastructure is equipped with a security scanner and will now offer innovative services, such as home delivery of parcels, supported by a digital application, which represents a qualitative leap in customer experience.
Ulisses Correia e Silva also highlighted the measures adopted by the government to facilitate trade, by reducing tax and administrative costs, speeding up customs procedures and increasing transparency.
"This is a concrete example of how the partnership between the public and private sectors can directly benefit citizens and the economy," he said, stressing that Cape Verde will continue to support private investment and the integration of the diaspora into the country's economic life.
The ceremony was attended by members of the government, municipal representatives, company directors and institutional guests.
The CEO of Atlantic Shipping, Victor de Pina, thanked the institutions for their support and reiterated the company's commitment to continuing to serve Cape Verdean communities, both inside and outside the archipelago.
According to Victor de Pina, with this new warehouse, the aim is to provide the best possible service to customers, while also reducing the interaction time with Customs and ENAPOR.
"Customers just have to deal with us. The cargo is delivered in the United States, transported on our own ship, in our own containers, it's spawned here, inspected here and delivered to the customer", he explained.
According to the official, there are plans to build two more warehouses - one on the island of Fogo and the other in São Vicente - with the same dimensions and services as the one just inaugurated.
The investment in the new unit in Praia is around 1 million dollars.
The event also saw the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Atlantic Shipping and the Deputy Prime Minister, Olavo Correia, which lays the foundations for a public-private partnership to provide transportation and delivery services for small parcels in Cape Verde, with a focus on safety, speed and cost reduction.
