The event, which also had the partnership of the Brava City Council, took place at the Palácio Nobre and was attended by the mayor and the deputy resident representative of the United Nations Joint Office, Ana Chescova.

Speaking to the media, Ana Chescova expressed great pride in being on the island and explained that the studio is engaging the private sector, which, she said, plays a crucial role in achieving sustainable development goals.

In this sense, he highlighted that they are engaging the private sector in discussions precisely to raise awareness of the great work they are already doing to promote sustainable development goals.

The meeting brings together representatives from fifteen private sectors from different areas, namely agriculture, livestock, bakery and pastry, among others.

The project, through its study, will demonstrate what the private sector is doing to develop Brava Island and also at national and international levels.

According to the official, there are several areas in which young people are already acting with awareness and with an impact on the sustainable development goals (SDGs).

"We will help through the joint project, which is part of this workshop we are holding with PENUD to better understand and raise awareness in the private sector of the crucial role it plays in achieving the SDGs," he said.

In turn, the mayor of Brava, Amândio Brito, emphasized that this is not the first time the island has received such an action and that the municipality is seeing that it has strong partners in the local development process, having already held a workshop with the Brava youth and this time with the private sector.

Hence, he admitted that this opportunity will certainly allow for new knowledge and increased skills to be acquired, enabling this sector to become a partner, enabling local development to proceed more quickly.

"Having UNDP involved in this undoubtedly means we have the opportunity to create better conditions for Brava to develop. By preparing the private sector, we are increasingly accelerating the development process on Brava Island," he stated.

Brito believes that this opportunity will allow participants to effectively gain a clearer understanding of the scope of their businesses and investments, and, based on this, begin to improve the service delivery system in the private sector.

"We are, therefore, firmly convinced that Brava is entering a new stage of development and growth. We can say that this is the beginning of what we want: for the island not to be left behind, and for this partnership to help people gain access to income, improve their living conditions, and live with dignity," he concluded.
