Brava: Police commander highlights opening of Nossa Senhora do Monte police station as an “added value”

The commander of the Brava police station, Higor Almeida, recognized today that the opening of the police station in Nossa Senhora do Monte, about seven months ago, constitutes an “added value” in the performance of the police force.

Speaking to Inforpress about the operation of the post over that period, Higor Almeida said that the unit has been operating twice a week in the morning, resolving a number of specific conflicts, situations between people and counseling.

The operation of the post is also a way, as the commander said, for the police force to be closer to the community, transmitting “more security and the announcement of more confidence” of the police mission, which is protection and security, and a way of “inhibiting” some situations of crimes or juvenile delinquency, among other cases that may arise.

However, "there are still not enough materials available" to meet the necessary conditions to receive complaints in writing, but this official explained that, in many cases, the personnel who are on duty at the post travel to the police station, inform the commander of the situation, they notify the people who are heard at the Nossa Senhora do Monte police station.

This, as he reinforced, is a way not only to demonstrate to people that the police force is aware of what happens in the parish, but also to minimize trips to the police station, in Nova Sintra.

For the local population, this initiative has been received with “great pleasure”, because, as many have mentioned, it is a way to feel more protected, even if the wave of violence on the island is not so much, but it is always necessary to have the presence of authority.

However, they regret the fact that other institutions so far have not had the "boldness" to follow this example and open service spaces or others in the locality, which may characterize Nossa Senhora do Monte as a village.
