Maritime transport crisis on the island with the owner of Hotel Djabraba's Eco-Lodge denouncing abuses" by CV Interilhas and questioning whether it isn't time for the Bravenses to rebel
Nova Sintra City, November 9, 2025 (Bravanews) - The crisis in Cape Verde's inter-island maritime transport, with serious consequences for the island of Brava, has gained a new and inflammatory chapter. The owner of Hotel Djabraba's Eco-Lodge, on the island of Brava, used social media to launch a vehement attack on the concessionaire CV Interilhas, accusing the company of a series of serious failings which, according to him, have harmed the Cape Verdean people and Brava in particular, with profound consequences for commerce, tourism and the local population.
Marco Agostino Giandinoto, in an outburst said that "CV Interilhas has always been a company marked by disorganization, incompetence, disrespect for customers, constant lies and blackmail against the government! Until when will the Cape Verdean people have to put up with these abuses?! Is it time to rebel?"
The strong criticism from the owner of Djabraba's Eco-Lodge echoes a general feeling of frustration that has been expressed by passengers, business people and local authorities in relation to CV Interilhas' services. The company has been the constant target of complaints about delays and cancellations, breakdowns and problems accessing and booking tickets.
The call for a "revolt" suggests a level of exasperation that goes beyond a simple complaint, underlining the negative impact that the alleged mismanagement of maritime transport has on the daily life of the islands, on the local economy, and particularly on the tourism of islands like Brava, which depend crucially on inter-island connections.
CV Interilhas, which holds the maritime transport concession, has publicly acknowledged on previous occasions the need to improve the quality of its services, but the persistence of complaints indicates that the promised improvements have yet to be felt effectively on the ground.
The authorities have addressed the new harsh accusations, but the hotelier's outburst once again puts the management of the concession at the center of the debate and the urgent need for solutions to guarantee the regularity, safety and dignity of maritime transport in the archipelago.
