European Union approves 12 million euros in military support for Cape Verde
The European Union will support Cape Verde's Armed Forces with 12 million euros over the next two years, with a focus on maritime security, ocean patrol and international cooperation. The support includes the delivery of a patrol vessel and technical training, as part of the Special Partnership between the EU and Cape Verde.

The European Union (EU) on Tuesday approved an assistance measure worth 12 million euros for the Cape Verde Armed Forces, with the aim of strengthening the country's military capacity over a period of two years.
According to a statement from the Council of the EU, this is the first support measure for Cape Verde under the European Peace Facility. The initiative aims to protect the archipelago's maritime sovereignty, improve regional maritime security and strengthen cooperation with the navies of EU member states, especially through the Coordinated Maritime Presence initiative.
The decision integrates the EU-Cape Verde Special Partnership, namely the pillar dedicated to stability and security. As part of the support, Cape Verde will receive equipment and services aimed at patrol and surveillance, including the delivery of an ocean patrol vessel and technical training actions.
The European Peace Facility, created in March 2021, has the mission of financing actions within the scope of the EU's Common Foreign and Security Policy, with a focus on conflict prevention, peacekeeping and strengthening international security.
