The intervention is considered strategic to strengthen the island's security and resilience to the impacts of climate change.

The contract focuses on one of the island's most vulnerable areas, with a focus on the Furna stream, where torrential correction infrastructures will be built to stop erosion and reduce the risk of landslides, guaranteeing the stabilization of the slopes and greater protection for residents, workers and port users.

In addition to the containment and stabilization works, the project includes the installation of a climate shelter at the Furna port's maritime station, a structure that aims to offer better protection conditions for passengers and residents in situations of extreme heat, heavy rain or strong winds.

The intervention also includes community awareness actions, with the aim of strengthening the local population's preparedness in the face of adverse weather events.

Budgeted at more than 55,000 escudos, the investment is being implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Environment, in partnership with the Brava City Council, under the Climate Action for Local Action Program, funded by Luxembourg Cooperation.

The municipality thus reaffirms its commitment to promoting a safer, more prepared and resilient Brava, placing climate adaptation at the heart of local development priorities.
