Prime Minister strengthens ties with diaspora on US visit
The Prime Minister is in the United States of America, where until the 8th he has an agenda focused on direct contact with the Cape Verdean diaspora and strengthening institutional relations with local authorities and entities.
Among the highlights on the agenda today is a brunch with elected officials of Cape Verdean origin, including the Mayor of Brockton and local community leaders, to be held at the Cape Verdean Association of Brockton. On the same day, an extended meeting is planned with the Cape Verdean community in Waterbury, Bridgeport and Norwich, Connecticut.
As part of this trip, the head of government will hold meetings with mayors, association leaders and representatives of entities in the state of Massachusetts, covering the cities of Boston, Brockton and Waterbury, in the state of Connecticut.
The main purpose of the visit, according to an official statement, is to meet with the Cape Verdean community living in Massachusetts, community leaders and elected representatives of Cape Verdean origin, as well as to hold institutional meetings considered strategic for Cape Verde.
The trip is part of the government's strategy of valuing the Cape Verdean diaspora, strengthening economic diplomacy and deepening international partnerships, as well as recognizing the decisive role of emigrant communities in the country's economic and social development, according to the same press release.
