Little Compton, Rhode Island - The search for the two Cape Verdean brothers, Aldino and Eldir, from the island of Fogo, who disappeared at sea last Saturday (12) while fishing on a rocky area of Warren's Point Beach Club, in Little Compton, in the US state of Rhode Island, has been officially concluded without success.

According to eyewitnesses, one of the brothers slipped and fell into the water. The other immediately entered the sea in an attempt to save him, but both were swept away by the strong current and disappeared from view.

Local authorities, including the US Coast Guard, the Rhode Island Department of Emergency Management, as well as maritime and land teams from Middletown, Tiverton, Newport and Little Compton, were involved in the search operations throughout Saturday.

Aldino and Eldir were 31 and 29 years old, respectively, according to information gathered at the scene. The intensive search by sea and land ended at the end of the day on Saturday. The authorities met later to assess the next steps, but confirmed that the operation was officially concluded without the bodies being found.

The Cape Verdean community in Rhode Island is in shock and mourning the loss of the young brothers, known for their hardworking spirit and connection to fishing traditions.
