In statements to Inforpress, the governor recalled that he had been to Brava in December, when priority areas were identified that needed immediate intervention.

In this context, he said that one of the actions that had already been carried out was the refurbishment of the statue of Eugénio Tavares, located in the house-museum dedicated to the man who is considered to be the greatest figure in Brava culture.

He explained that the intervention has given the monument a new aesthetic quality, helping to enhance the legacy of the poet and composer.

Also within the same framework, young artists and painters from the island of Santiago were mobilized to intervene in Rua da Cultura, where the statue of Eugénio Tavares is located, providing "another shine" to the space through artistic and creative work.

These initiatives are part of the celebrations for the 50th anniversary of National Independence and the 35th anniversary of Freedom and Democracy Day.

As part of the celebrations, the Ministry of Culture and Creative Industries (MCIC), through the Institute of the National Archives of Cape Verde (IANCV), is also promoting a workshop on Document Management, Conservation and Digital Preservation on the island, aimed at technicians and employees of the municipal councils and deconcentrated state services in Brava.

Augusto Veiga also said that the ministry plans to hold other cultural activities on the island, in conjunction with the National Library and the UNESCO National Commission, reinforcing its commitment to enhancing the local cultural and historical heritage.

Concerning Carnival, the minister revealed that the MCIC had received requests for support from the island's carnival groups through the local authority, to which it had responded positively.

In this regard, he said that the municipality has already been allocated money to support the festivities, and the groups should receive their financial support by Friday, the 6th, for this year's Carnival.
