In declarations to Inforpress, user Arminda Monteiro considered that the introduction of these services represents a significant gain for the local population, who until now were forced to travel to the island of Fogo to carry out this type of examination.

"It's a great achievement for Brava, because now we can do the exams right here, without having to face difficult journeys and additional costs," he said.

According to her, from now on the hospital must take good care of the X-ray equipment so that it doesn't break down and so that it can carry out the various appointments that are pending.

In the same vein, user Jorge Freitas highlighted the importance of the service, especially for pregnant women, stressing that carrying out obstetric ultrasounds on the island itself will improve prenatal care and reduce the risks associated with inter-island travel.

"We are very happy with this achievement and I hope that from now on, traveling to the island of Fogo for an ultrasound or X-ray will be a thing of the past. Now the Bravenses will be able to have their appointments right here on the island, as this is a gain for us," he said.

For his part, the health delegate, Júlio Barros, stressed that the arrival of the radiologist is the fruit of "a lot of effort by the Cape Verdean government, in partnership with Cuba", to strengthen health services on the island.

According to the official, around 15 ultrasound examinations a day will begin this Thursday, taking into account that there is a long waiting list.

"With this reinforcement, users will no longer have to travel to the island of Fogo for ultrasound scans, which is a great relief for Bravense families," he said.

The Health delegate also emphasized that this is the first time that the island of Brava has had three Cuban doctors at the same time, a fact that he considers historic and decisive for improving the quality of healthcare provided to the local population.

The introduction of these new services is part of the government's strategy to decentralize healthcare and ensure greater equity in access to specialized services on all the country's islands.
