The purpose of the visit was to strengthen relations between the Cuban Embassy and the Brava City Council. Cuba and Cape Verde share a deep historical and cultural relationship, marked by Cuban support in the struggle for Cape Verde's independence and its participation in crucial moments of liberation in Africa.

With a permanent presence in Cape Verde for 48 years, Cuba has contributed significantly to the country, especially in the context of cooperation in health and education. In July 2022, the governments of both countries reinforced this cooperation, resulting in the arrival of Cuban doctors to reinforce the Brava Health Department. Currently, 80 Cuban doctors are distributed across seven islands, providing a positive impact on the provision of health services.

During the visit, the Ambassador expressed full willingness to collaborate with Brava City Council in several areas, highlighting culture as a key point. It committed to sending trainers to train young people and local artists, promoting music, arts, paintings and drawings as tourism products. In the health sector, several initiatives are underway in direct collaboration with the Cape Verde Ministry of Health, while in education and sport, there are promises of future cooperation.

The City Council expressed deep gratitude for the visit of Mr. Ambassador and his delegation, expressing optimism that the openness and willingness to collaborate will result in significant benefits for the development of Brava in several areas. The strengthened institutional relationship promises to open new doors for fruitful partnerships and initiatives that will contribute to the island's progress.
