Various users on the island of Brava denounced today that the workers of the Registry, Notary and Identification Office (RNI), currently on strike, are not complying with the minimum services required during the strike period. According to them, the door of the institution is often closed, making it difficult to access services that are considered urgent.

João José Delgado, spokesman for the users' group, told Inforpress that he recognizes the legitimacy of the strike as a fundamental right of the workers, but stressed that this right also implies compliance with the established rules, including the guarantee of minimum services. Delgado also questioned who is responsible for ensuring these services if, as he says, the gates remain closed and there are no visible employees on site.

"We agree that the workers have every right to fight for better conditions, but users also have the right to basic care. Many people arrive and find the institution closed, with only a few notices on the doors," he said, warning that situations of this kind could constitute acts punishable by the courts.

The person in charge of the RNI in Brava, Catiza de Pina, rejects the accusations. According to her, despite the door remaining closed to the public due to the strike context, the workers are strictly complying with the minimum services determined, guaranteeing care in essential cases.

"Notices about the strike, scheduled for the 17th, 18th and 19th, have been posted on the gates, with clear information about the services available and contact details for officials, should the need arise," she explained.

The RNI workers' strike runs until Wednesday and is expected to affect the functioning of registry services on all islands, operating exclusively with minimum services during the strike period.
