The "modus operandi" is old - inspired by the Soviet model of disinformation - but adapted to the times of social networks, algorithms and influencers paid to poison public opinion.
The strategy is simple: discredit the opponent, sow suspicion, create false narratives, and make defamation the instrument of political combat. The target, as always, is the MPD and, in particular, Prime Minister Ulisses Correia e Silva, whom the opposition is trying to lead to the "slaughterhouse of infamy."
It is urgent that the justice system wakes up and acts swiftly to stop this torrent of slander and libel that spreads with the speed of digital lies. The country needs to put an end to this type of behavior, which undermines political debate and compromises people's good name.
Swift justice will always be a sign of democratic vitality!
Francisco Carvalho, leader of the PAICV, presents himself as the mastermind behind this discrediting that threatens to erode the foundations of Cape Verdean democracy.
The risk is clear: a populism disguised as an alternative that could push Cape Verde back into underdevelopment, reinstating old repressive practices – people's courts, militias, and a political culture of persecution that the country overcame decades ago with the advent of democracy.
The MPD and the government face a crucial mission: to regain the public's trust and reaffirm their commitment to good governance, transparency, and competence.
It's time to clean house, remove opportunists, and reaffirm the party's founding values - public service, republican ethics, and dedication to the national cause.
More than winning elections, the challenge is to win back the soul of a society that no longer sees itself reflected in certain figures.
Winning over a party is easy; winning over a people is difficult, and to do that you need to be an example, listen to the grassroots, and present new proposals, new faces, and a new political energy that is contagious.
Cape Verde cannot go back. The future demands clarity, courage, and responsibility!
It is up to the MPD to demonstrate, through actions, that it is the party of modernity, stability, development, and the hope of the people of the islands, who embraced this poem and nurture the success of a Nation in stanzas and sap that nourishes the islands with our contentment.
Will the results of the legislative elections reflect the maturity of our democracy or a return to a past of bad memory that mortally wounded the Cape Verdean nation?
I believe in the maturity of the electorate and I know that they will know how to overcome the traps of FC's populism and his peers!
