Ministry of Education suspends 10th grade Cape Verdean language and culture textbook
The Ministry of Education suspends distribution of the 10th grade Cape Verdean Language and Culture textbook, stressing openness to technical-scientific dialogue and reaffirming the experimental nature of the subject.

The Ministry of Education has announced the suspension of the distribution of the 10th grade textbook on Cape Verdean Language and Culture (LCCV). The decision was justified as a gesture of openness to technical-scientific dialogue and moderation, with the aim of avoiding polemics that could take the focus away from educational reforms and the continuous improvement of the quality of teaching.
According to Minister Amadeu Cruz, the government's priority is to guarantee progress in the education system and not to fuel tensions over teaching materials. The minister also recalled that the subject of LCCV, as well as its textbooks, are experimental, as defined in Decree-Law no. 28/2022, which approves the curricular structure of secondary education.
The introduction of the subject is intended to help create the necessary conditions for the officialization of the Cape Verdean language, in accordance with the Constitution of the Republic. However, in view of the radicalized position of some sectors of society, the Ministry has chosen to suspend distribution of the manual, reiterating its willingness to welcome technical-scientific contributions and ensure that education remains a uniting factor.
