The Angolan airline TAAG will soon resume regular flights between Angola and Cape Verde, as part of the strengthening of cooperation in the civil aviation sector and the promotion of regional tourism. The announcement was made in Luanda by Angola's Minister of Transport, Ricardo de Abreu, during the 2nd UN Tourism/ICAO Ministerial Conference on Tourism and Air Transport in Africa.

According to Minister Ricardo de Abreu, direct connectivity with Cape Verde will be established in the near future, as a result of the political commitment and strong brotherhood between the two nations. The measure aims not only to facilitate exchanges between peoples, but also to foster economic development through tourism and air transportation.

Cape Verde's Minister of Transport and Tourism, José Luís Nogueira, stressed the importance of this connection, pointing out that Cape Verde has the potential to establish itself as a strategic hub for the distribution of passengers and cargo, serving several countries in Europe and the American continent. "This connectivity will strengthen Cape Verde's position as a platform for air links between Africa, Europe and America, bringing new opportunities to the country and the region," said Nogueira.

The resumption of TAAG flights represents an important step towards boosting the tourism sector, facilitating access to Cape Verde for visitors and businesspeople, while at the same time strengthening historical and cultural ties with Angola.

The initiative is part of a joint effort by African countries to improve regional integration, increase air connectivity and boost tourism as a driver of sustainable development.
