According to the publication by Maika Lobo, Alex Évora - a well-known supporter of PAICV President and Prime Ministerial candidate Francisco Carvalho - has allegedly gone beyond the limits of political debate, resorting to offensive language, personal attacks and, most seriously, death threats.

"And it is known at whose behest Alex Évora has been making his programs, his defamations, insults and death threats," wrote Daniel Lobo, maintaining that such acts were neither isolated nor spontaneous.

In the same publication, Maika Lobo goes further by stating that Alex Évora did not act alone, but under the guidance of third parties, insinuating the existence of a chain of command behind the actions he considers criminal.

"Consequently, Alex Évora has a command, a command that instructs him and gives him orders. The moral authorship of the crimes!" he said, arguing that not only the material author, but also the alleged instigators should be held legally responsible.

These statements raise a sensitive debate about the limits of political activism, freedom of expression and criminal responsibility, especially in a context of increasing radicalization of political discourse on social networks.

Another striking point in Daniel Lobo's announcement is the reference to justice in the United States of America. The activist says that he intends to question the American judicial authorities as part of the process, if it is confirmed that part of the alleged infractions took place on US territory or involved citizens residing there.

"American justice will also be questioned in relation to the moral authorship of the crimes committed. And people from Alex Évora's command will be caught when they get here", he wrote, adding that the complaints "will be extended as far as possible"..

This announcement comes at a time when the Cape Verdean political environment is increasingly polarized, with frequent exchanges of accusations between activists and supporters of the main parties, especially in the digital space.

Experts have warned of the danger of the normalization of hate speech, intimidation and the criminalization of political opponents, stressing that democratic confrontation must be based on ideas, proposals and civilized debate.

So far, Alex Évora has not reacted publicly to the accusations made by Daniel Lobo. It is important to stress that, from a legal point of view, the principle of the presumption of innocence prevails, and it is up to the courts to assess the facts, the evidence and the possible criminal responsibility of those involved.

Bravanews will continue to follow the progress of this case, listening to all parties and guaranteeing the right to a fair hearing, in an effort to contribute to accurate, balanced information in the public interest.
